Archimedes Screw Repair with 202 Ceramic Repair Fluid:
A heavily eroded Archimedes screw at a mineral processing facility was restored after prolonged exposure to abrasive slurries caused severe surface damage. Facing reduced efficiency and the risk of failure, the unit was removed from service and transferred off-site for comprehensive surface preparation and application of a high-performance protective coating.

Operating in a high-wear environment, mineral processing facility, the Archimedes screw was subjected to constant abrasion from solids and corrosive process flows. Welding was dismissed due to risks of heat distortion and structural cracking. Full replacement wasn’t feasible—excessive costs and long lead times would have caused major production delays and costly downtime.
Surface Prep & High-Performance Coating Application.
After removal, the screw underwent thorough mechanical cleaning and abrasion to ISO 8501/4 ST3 (SSPC SP3 ST3) standards, creating a clean, textured surface for optimal adhesion. Two brush-applied coats of 202 Ceramic Repair Fluid—each at 300 microns—formed a 600-micron, erosion-resistant barrier engineered for continuous duty in harsh mineral processing conditions at the mineral processing facility.
